Ragnar Axelsson, better known as RAX, is an Icelandic photographer who, for the last decades, has captured the life in the Arctic like no one else. He was born in Iceland in 1958 and has been a staff photographer of Morgunblaðið (Iceland’s largest newspaper) since 1976. Rax has done work and stories for various agencies and magazines, shooting in Iceland, the Feroe Islands, Greenland, Scandinavia, and Siberia. He has extensively travelled the Arctic for almost three decades, producing some of the most iconic and mesmerising – mostly black and white – images of arctic communities. They won him worldwide recognition as an exceptional documentary photographer.
